Common Sense by Tom Paine pt 2

Thursday Apr 06, 2023

Thursday Apr 06, 2023

A reading of the influential pamphlet written by Thomas Paine in 1776, in which he argues that the thirteen American colonies should fight a war with Britain to gain their independence. He lays out many reasons why, in his opinion, the British king, George III and his government were unfit to rule the colonies, that the time to strike was now and that delay for any reason would lead to the perpetual domination and exploitation of America by a despotic power.
The pamphlet was so persuasive and popular that George Washington encouraged public readings of it to his army.
